Tico is a pan latin-american restaurant located in the back bay on Berkley Street that is just out of the affordable range suggested in this Wiki. However, if you are able to limit the number of scrumptious small plates offered, then Tico can be affordable. I've only eaten there once, about a month ago in June for my wife's birthday. We were a table of four with a two year old in tow.

There are a number of options for vegetarians:
Snap Peas with orange zest, Tabasco butter and “crunchies” 7
Creamy Whipped Queso Fresco with Piperade and Crostini 10
Roasted Cauliflower with Creamy Chipotle and Crushed, Crunchy Fava Beans 7

On the higher end of the menu we tried a couple of small plates that were worth the price of admissin:
Lobster and Avocado Tacos 12
Tuna Tartare Tostadas with lime, cilantro and serranos 14

My wife opted to try the burger because a can be measured by the quality of its burger is a proven fact. There was an obscene amount of bacon and the old maxim held true that a lot of bacon goes a long way:
Tico’s Bacon-Cheeseburger with homemade French fries 15

While the restaurant remains much the same in decor as the old Cottonwood cafe which preceeded it wait staff was friendly a accommodating for my two year old, managing to scrounge up a few crayons to amuse her with a game of daddy fetch the crayon that I just threw under the table. She didn't go for the sinfully creamy mac n cheese so the table ruefully gobbled up the remnants.

I'm giving the website for Tico:

Usually I make reservations through open table. Tico is popular with both the after work and saturday night crowd.
